I fell absolutely in love with yoga in 2016. I attended my 200 hour teacher training in 2017 with the intention to learn more, but not to teach yoga. The training happened at an interesting time in my life as I was struggling with health problems that left me unable to do my former favorite workouts.  Yoga was something that I could still do, but had to be very gentle as both my thyroid and  adrenals were suffering. I couldn’t even do a proper downward dog at that time. I had to have major surgery to remove my entire thyroid and tumors that had wrapped around my vocal chords.  In spite of this, I stepped up and taught my first yoga class only 5 weeks after the surgery, not knowing if my damaged voice would be heard by the students in the back of the room. After that, I taught at several teacher trainings and received a 100 hour certificate in Yin yoga.  Most recently, I completed an Ashtanga yoga based training for my 300 hour certificate with Miami LIfe Center.

Yoga is where I come to  find a calm space within myself. I believe that to be a good teacher, I must continue to practice every morning: facing my fears, weaknesses, and gaining strength and flexibility on my mat. I find it an honor every time I get to use my voice that was nearly taken from me to teach others the beautiful calming practice of yoga. I attempt to lead students toward the true purpose of yoga: “Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah”, which means “Yoga is stilling the fluctuations of the mind”.

When I am not on my mat, you might find me hanging out with my 4 children or 2 grandchildren.  I also get out for some beautiful PNW hikes or lake adventures with my pups whenever I get the chance.
